The three hour drive went okay. Savannah didn't get the memo about eating before and was quite hungry about half way there. (Thank you Subway in Brigham City for putting up with our mess.) After about an hour and a half Abbie was ready to be there and kept asking every 10 seconds where the cabin was. For the last few minutes Russ told Abbie he would count until we got to the cabin. This was surprisingly distracting and fun for Abbie, who, whenever Russ stopped, would ask him to keep going. 246, 247, 248..... (I was not allowed to help out. Apparently my counting skills are not up to par.) Russ will not be volunteering this service again. I think an investment in a portable DVD will be in order soon.
At the cabin we had a ball. The girls went sledding. Abbie loved it, and especially loved watching daddy run down the hill to come and get her. Over and over and over.
Russ and our friend Jeff took the four wheelers out for a few hours, and later they took the girls who had a blast. I had thought Abbie would have been more cautious with the four wheelers but she didn't seem to mind the dark and the cold. I had a great time visiting with my friend Bonnie and playing with the kids. Bonnie and I even made it out on the four wheelers which was impressive considering she is seven months pregnant.
We played ping pong. Threw eggs (plastic) down from the balcony, and had an air-hockey tournament. And after the kids were in bed laughed hysterically at Jack Black in Nacho Libre --which Russ and Jeff proceeded to quote (or in Russ's case pose) for the next few days. (I wish I had a better picture.)

Unfortunately, Savannah didn't have as much fun as the rest of our family. She did not like the kid backpack and screamed shortly after getting in.
But that is very possibly due to her refusal to take naps or sleep at night. She woke up every half hour from 2:00 - 4:30 one night.. On Sunday her nose started running like a faucet so I think she was getting my cold from last week. Poor girl.Hopefully now we can survive the rest of winter!

What fun! Little outings to get away are great, and needed! Missed you guys at church though
I love Nacho Libre! I love Russ' pose... although, he needs to gain a little weight for that cheek clenching to have the right effect.
It sounds like you have a great weekend, minus the sleepless night. I always have a hard time with carson sleeping in unfamiliar places at night. It is always nice to get away and enjoy life. Welcome back.
that sounds like so much fun! a weekend away can really do a lot of good. I'm glad you were able to do it.
I'm jealous. I want to go to the cabin with you guys! You should make the drive to Oregon more often. That way the 3 hrs. to the cabin will seem like nothing to the girls. I'm just sayin'...
I'm glad you had a good time, though. It's always fun to get away with friends.
What a wonderful weekend. It looks so beautiful there.
What a fun trip - aside from the drive up,(I laughed so hard about the counting thing) and not sleeping. It's amazing how vacations don't feel quite as relaxing after parenthood...still fun, just not relaxing. :) I'm glad you guys could get away.
HOw fun! I so wish that we lived closer so we could hang out with all of you more. Dinner was fun with you guys. And, I love that we love the same movies, we have Nacho Libre memorized. Love it!
