On Friday Abbie and I wanted to escape the heat so we decided to go hiking up at Silver Lake. The less than one mile flat loop around the lake seemed perfect for a two-year old and pregnant woman who wouldn't be too disappointed if the hike induced labor. (MAJOR UNDERSTATEMENT).
We started around the North side of the lake and Abbie quickly became enthralled with gathering rocks and throwing them in the lake. That combined with a traditional two-year old pace of stopping and looking at everything along the way made the journey long but quite enjoyable.
Until we got to the South end - about 3/4 of the way around. At the South end of the lake there were large patches of snow on the trail that hadn't yet melted. Also by this point Abbie had decided that she was too tired to continue. I knew that at this stage in my pregnancy unless I wanted to deliver a baby at Brighton ski resort, I couldn't carry Abbie back the way we came. So with Abbie in one arm, snacks, diapers etc, in the other and flip flops on my feet we plunged into the snow banks. Thankfully we did not slip (which I guess really would have started labor) and we made it home safe and sound.
Abbie still talks about the fun "hiking in the mountains."

I am glad that you are still getting out despite being uncomfortably pregnant, good for you!
I got your phone message about this and I totally wish we could have gone with you! And I'm sorry the hike didn't induce labor, but not too sorry, because the girls really want to visit you and baby Savannah in the hospital. They're all about making me jealous that they'll see her before me.
Emily, I can't believe you were doing all that with only a couple of weeks left! Just kidding, I know the feeling. Mom's are tougher than people think. I miss hiking on that little trail. Abbie looks so grown up. I can't believe she is already 2! We can't wait to meet Savannah when she comes. See you in a couple of weeks!
I know that feeling of doing anything to induce labor... I felt that way with all three, but with Ethan wasn't allowed to do anything but rest. Hope for your sake it won't be too much longer.
You're such a fun mom. Keep it up! :O)
And I can't believe you're close to your due date already. it seems like you just barely announced the pregnancy! I can't wait to hear the news!
